Stony Brook, N.Y. –  Stony Brook volleyball head coach Coley Pawlikowski has announced that redshirt sophomore Kathy Fletcher will join the team for the 2013 season. A dynamic athlete, Fletcher is an outside hitter who can also play middle blocker and right side hitter. She is eligible to play immediately.

“Our staff is elated that Kathy has decided to join us here at Stony Brook,” Pawlikowski commented. “She will not only bring experience and talent to our gym but also depth in various positions. Kathy fits well with the team and the direction our program is heading. We are excited she is a SEAWOLF!”

During her freshman season at Ashland University in Ohio in 2011, the 5-11 Fletcher led the Eagles in kills. She garnered all-conference honorable mention honors and was named GLIAC Player of the Week once.

A West Chicago, Ill., native, Fletcher captained the 2010 West Chicago High School volleyball team to its first DuPage Valley Conference Championship in three decades. She was named all-conference in 2009 and 2010, as well as All-Area in 2009.

Fletcher’s club experience includes a three-season stint with the Kane Country Juniors Volleyball Club from 2009-11. She was part of the 2011 Volleyball Festival Championship team in 2011.
