Stony Brook head men’s and women’s tennis coach Gary Glassman has announced the signing of three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. Adesuwa Osabuohien (Hazel Crest, Ill.), Nadia Smergut (East Hampton, N.Y.) and Brandon Stone (Melville, N.Y.) will join the Seawolves for the 2013-14 academic year.

Osabuohien, who attends Homewood-Flossmour High School, advanced to her third straight state tournament. A four-star recruit according to the Tennis Recruiting Network, Osabuohien won the SouthWest Suburban Conference title after being named to the Chicago Tribune watch list. She is ranked as the No. 6 player in Illinois, No. 12 in the Great Lakes region and No. 103 nationally in the class of 2013.

A first team All-Long Island selection by Newsday, Smergut captured the L1 LBTC Novemeber Championships and won the Girls’ 18 singles HJTEP Harlem Week/Les Halles Tri-State Tournament titles. Ranked the No. 8 player in New York, No. 20 in the Mid-Atlantic region and No. 142 nationally in the class of 2013 by the Tennis Recruiting Network, the four-star recruit captured the Suffolk Singles title as a sophomore at the Ross School.

Stone overcame five match points to win the Suffolk County title as a junior, earning second team All-Long Island honors from Newsday. A three-star recruit, he’s ranked as the No. 17 player in New York, No. 40 in the Mid-Atlantic region and No. 250 nationally in the class of 2013.

The 2013 schedule gets underway against Connecticut and Army on February 8.
