Coach's Corner - A Note From the Desk of Coach Glassman

Jan. 15, 2010

Stony Brook, N.Y. -

A Happy and Healthy New Year’s greeting from the tennis office! Welcome to the first installment of the 2010 Coach’s Corner – a monthly newsletter to keep you informed and up to date on Stony Brook Tennis.

Before we get started – a hearty congratulations to Daniel and Beth Antonius ’99 on the birth of their son Michael! If ever somebody were destined to be a Seawolf – it has to be Michael Antonius.

The post-holiday period can be a tough time for some folks. The days are short and cold and the nights are long and colder. It is a couple of long, cold months until St Patrick’s Day and some people just come down with a mean case of the winter blues. Fortunately, help is on the way. First of all – if you have yet to make a New Year’s resolution – I have some excellent ideas for you: 1) Attend a Stony Brook tennis match in 2010. 2) Attend the Fun Fest on March 20. 3) Make a PAWS donation and receive a Stony Brook Tennis shirt or a winter hat if you prefer.

To make those resolutions even easier – here are some details on each - - Our season kicks off on February 5 as the women head to Columbia. On Saturday, February 6, both teams head to Connecticut to face Fairfield University. Please visit the following links to see the complete spring schedules.

The 4th Annual Fun Fest will take place on Saturday March 20 at Eastern Athletic Club in Blue Point. For more information on this fun-filled event and an RSVP form please click here. The Fun Fest has grown each year and it’s always a great night of tennis and catching up with old friends. Once again we are currently running our PAWS promotion. Simply email me with your shirt size and address and we will mail you a Stony Brook Tennis shirt. We also have winter hats available this year. All we ask is that you make a PAWS donation of your choice to Tennis. At this time I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of you who have already made such generous contributions to the tennis program.

If you know of any teammates/supporters that would like to receive the Coach’s Corner – please feel free to send me their email address.

Take care and I look forward to seeing you on the other side of the net!

Gary Glassman
