College Station, Texas -

The Stony Brook women's tennis team's outstanding 2014 season came to an end with a 4-0 loss to No. 9 Texas A&M Friday night at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in the first round of the NCAA Championship.

After the Aggies (20-6) and Seawolves (15-4) were unable to finish doubles, the match was decided during singles play. Stony Brook, which was making its third straight NCAA Championship appearance, received a great effort from sophomore Jackie AltanSarnai (Hinsdale, Ill.). A first team All-America East selection, AltanSarnai won the first set over No. 84 Ines Deheza, 6-1, at No. 2 singles. Deheza claimed the second set before a 1-1 stalemate in the third.

Texas A&M won at No. 1, 3, 4 and 5 singles. The loss was Stony Brook's first since a 7-0 setback at Princeton on February 28.
