Solid singles play leads #Seawolves over Temple, Lehigh

Behind some outstanding singles play, the Stony Brook women's tennis team topped Temple, 4-2, before dominating Lehigh, 7-0.

Four of the six singles matches against Temple went to third-set tiebreakers, with Stony Brook winning three of those. Sophomore Jackie AltanSarnai (Hinsdale, Ill.) won 10-5 at No. 3 singles. Sophomore Louise Badoche (Paris, France) was victorious at No. 5 singles, 10-7, and junior Cassandra Dix (Northamptonshire, U.K.) came away with an 11-9 win at No. 6 singles.

Against Lehigh, junior Polina Movchan (Kiev, Ukraine) was outstanding, teaming with AltanSarnai to win 8-1 at No. 2 doubles and winning in straight sets at No. 1 singles.

Freshman Adey Osabuohien (Hazel Crest, Ill.) won dominant in her singles match, coming away with a 6-1, 6-1 win.

Freshman Nadia Smergut (New York, N.Y.) and senior Lisa Setyon (Paris, France) each won their singles matches with ease.  For Setyon, it was her first singles win of the season.

Stony Brook will head to Princeton on Friday, February 28 for a match against the Tigers.
