Swimming and diving sweeps final meet at Pritchard Pool

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook swimming and diving teams swept Bryant on Saturday in the final meet at Pritchard Pool, which will be closing in the fall for scheduled renovations. The women's team earned a 156-106 win, while the men won 157-105.
On senior day, Stony Brook's most experienced swimmers carried the Seawolves to victory. Senior Daniel Kim (Douglaston, N.Y.) won three individual events, taking first in the 200 fly, 200 back and set a new season-best time in the 1,000 free (10:04.87).
Seniors Darcy Heuser (Centerville, Ohio), Taylor Crosby (Port Monmouth, N.J.) and Sean Conway (Oakdale, N.Y.) each earned two victories to help the Seawolves build their advantage. Heuser touched first in the 500 free and 1,000 free, setting a new season-best time of 10:44.74 in the latter. Crosby won the 100 breast and 200 IM, while Conway won the 100 free and 200 free.
Senior Stephanie Gross (Fairport, N.Y.) also reeled in a win on senior day with a top-finish in the 100 fly (1:00.28). Also victorious on the women's side were junior Julie Policht (Toronto, Ontario) in the 200 fly and sophomore Emily Cheng (Jericho, N.Y.) in the 200 back.
On the men's side, junior Daniel Wenzel (Norwich, N.Y.) won the 100 back, freshman Matthew Essig (Arlington, Va.) took first in the 500 free and sophomore Sean Hardick (East Northport, N.Y.) placed first in the 200 IM.
Prior to the meet, Stony Brook honored the 19 members of the swimming and diving team who were competing in their final home meet today: Mark Anderson, Conway, Cliff Gonzalez, Kim, Ed McIntyre, Connor Murray, Makenna Barley, Christie Bodden, Mallory Breen, Kaitlyn Colella, Crosby, Grace Gifford, Gross, Heuser, Deirdre Leong, Shanna Murphy, Lindsay Peters, Kelsey Stranc and Staci Woytash.
The Seawolves will wrap up the regular season against conference-rival Binghamton on Feb. 4 at 1 p.m.
