Stony Brook, N.Y. - Registration is now open for the 2012 Homerun Softball Showcase Training Camp at Stony Brook University on Columbus Day, Oct. 8. The camp is open to grades 7-12 and will feature some of the top head and assistant coaches in the Northeast.

The camp, which will take place at the Stony Brook Softball Field, will give participants the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of college coaches and learn more about the game of softball from some of the top minds in the game.

The morning session includes a warm up followed by a progression on defense, including glove work and foot work, plus throwing and position play for outfielders and infielders. Pitchers and catchers are separated into their own groups to hone individual skills. The second half of the day shifts to hitting instruction, when participants will rotate to different stations and learn various skills and philosophies from different coaches.

Among the coaches in attendance will be Stony Brook head coach Megan Bryant and assistant coach Shannon Doepking. They will be joined by Heather Stone (Western Connecticut), Wally King (Syracuse), Abby Martin (Cortland State), Rinae Olson (Utica), Sarah Maulorico (Moravian), Tony Ciccarello (Geneseo State), Julie Brzezinski (Fairfield), Kate Stake (Hofstra), Marc Fazio (SUNY Old Westbury) and Carla Campagna (LIU-Post).
