Louisville, Ky. - Junior Allison Cukrov (Irvine, Calif.) was named first team all-region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Thursday. It's the second all-region honor for Cukrov, who was named to the second team as a freshman in 2012.

Cukrov won 23 games, tied for the third most in a season in school history, and posted an ERA of 2.10. She threw complete games in 21 of her 28 starts, including eight shutouts.

The America East Pitcher of the Year allowed 70 runs, 64 earned, in 213 innings. After a rough outing at Cal Poly on March 8, Cukrov entered a stretch of pure dominance. From March 16 to May 9, Cukrov was 20-0 with a 1.12 ERA in 143 2/3 innings, winning 19 straight starts. Opposing batters hit only .160 during that stretch.

Cukrov joins Alyssa Struzenberg '10 as the only pitchers in school history to earn first team all-region honors.

A total of 392 players from 158 different programs have been chosen to the 2014 NFCA Division I All-Region squads. Each of the honorees are eligible for selection to one of three NFCA Division I All-American teams.
