Softball hits the road to face Rutgers Wednesday

Piscataway, N.J. - The Stony Brook softball team will return to non-conference play on Wednesday for a doubleheader at Rutgers starting at 2:30 p.m. The Seawolves have won 11 straight non-conference games.
The Seawolves (22-17) will be looking to bounce back after dropping two of three games to Albany last weekend. Freshman Alexandra Pisciotta (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) hit two home runs in the series and now leads Stony Brook with a .339 batting average. Pisciotta has hit safely in 13 of her last 15 games and is hitting .450 (18-for-40) during that span.
Sophomore Shayla Giosia (Runnemede, N.J.) continues to lead the team with 25 RBI, 16 of which have come in the last 17 games. In the circle, junior Christine Lucido (Melville, N.Y.) now owns a 1.93 ERA, which is good for the best mark in the conference.
The Scarlet Knights enter with a 23-18 overall record after dropping both games of a doubleheader to Notre Dame last weekend. Rutgers is led by Alexis Durando, who is hitting .348 with six home runs and 29 RBI to go along with seven stolen bases. In the circle, Rutgers is paced by Alyssa Landrith, who owns a 13-10 record with a 2.50 ERA and 131 strikeouts in 143 innings.
