Albany, N.Y. - The Stony Brook softball team (22-17, 5-4 America East) dropped the rubber match of its weekend series at Albany by a score of 4-0 on Sunday. Stony Brook's pitching allowed just five hits on the day, but could not find a way to break through against Albany starter Brittany MacFawn, who had 10 strikeouts.


In another tightly-contested affair, Albany (21-10, 8-1 America East) was able to plate runs in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth to notch a 4-0 victory. The Great Danes got on the board first with an RBI single by Vicky McFarland in the third. Maggie Cocks then doubled the advantage with a lead-off home run to open the fourth, before a pair of RBI singles eventually stretched the lead to four in the sixth.

Seawolves' starter Allison Cukrov (Irvine, Calif.) tossed 4.1 innings and allowed three earned runs, while striking out five to fall to 8-10 on the year.
