Coach's Reaction

"This was a really good weekend for us. I thought we had a great team-effort in all three games: our pitching and defense were outstanding and our offense was really productive."

--Head Coach Megan Bryant

After recording 8-0 and 8-1 victories over UMBC (8-25, 1-5 America East) on Saturday, the third game of the series followed a similar script. Stony Brook got on the board first when junior Jessica Combs (Hammonton, N.J.) ripped a double into left-center to score two runs in the bottom of the second. The Seawolves then plated two more in the third when Zeilman laced a double into the right-center gap to make it 4-0.

Stony Brook extended the lead in the fifth as Zeilman knocked in another run to push the lead to 5-0, before a basehit by freshman Alexandra Pisciotta (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) pushed the advantage to six runs.

The Seawolves then rounded out the scoring in the sixth on RBI hits by sophomore Bria Green (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) and junior Nicole Schieferstein (Seaford, N.Y.).

Freshman Jane Sallen (Lake Worth, Fla.) picked up the win with her second-career complete-game effort. Sallen scattered five hits and fanned three batters to win her fourth straight decision.
