Boca Raton, Fla. - The Stony Brook softball team (6-12) dropped its third game of the weekend on Saturday, falling 5-0 to tournament host Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Fla.


In a contest that was delayed nearly two hours due to preceding tournament games, the Owls (11-15) leaned on the arm of Paige Pender to secure a 5-0 win. Pender scattered four hits and struck out two in a complete-game effort as FAU won its first game of the weekend.

Junior Jessica Combs (Hammonton, N.J.) led Stony Brook (6-12) with two hits, while junior Olivia Mintun (Neoga, Ill.) and senior Gina Bianculli (Oakdale, N.Y.) each added base-knocks.

Sophomore Allison Cukrov (Irvine, Calif.) took the loss, despite pitching a complete game and striking out four. Cukrov held the Owls off the board until the third inning when the hosts plated four runs on three hits.
