Boca Raton, Fla. - The Stony Brook softball team (6-12) dropped its third game of the weekend on Saturday, falling 5-0 to tournament host Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Fla.
In a contest that was delayed nearly two hours due to preceding tournament games, the Owls (11-15) leaned on the arm of Paige Pender to secure a 5-0 win. Pender scattered four hits and struck out two in a complete-game effort as FAU won its first game of the weekend.
Sophomore Allison Cukrov (Irvine, Calif.) took the loss, despite pitching a complete game and striking out four. Cukrov held the Owls off the board until the third inning when the hosts plated four runs on three hits.
The Seawolves will wrap up the competition Sunday against Louisiana-Monroe at 11 a.m. and Florida A&M at 1 p.m.
