Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's soccer team will look to clinch an America East playoff bid on Sunday when they host Albany in the regular season finale at 2 p.m. Prior to the match, the Seawolves will honor the four seniors that will be playing in their final home game.
Playoffs on the line
On the final day of the regular season, there are four teams alive for the final two playoff spots in the America East. Stony Brook, New Hampshire and Binghamton all have seven points, but the Seawolves own the tiebreaker via their four points this season against UNH and Binghamton. Maine, currently in eighth place with six points, is also alive for the playoffs on the final day.
The Great Danes (6-9-1, 4-2-1 AE) have clinched the No. 3 seed in the America East playoffs and will host the No. 6 seed in the quarterfinals on Thursday. Albany can not move up or down in the standings regardless of the result on Sunday. The Danes are led by Rebecca Lee, who has 10 points on four goals and two assists.
On Sunday, the Seawolves will honor captain Dana Adamkiewicz (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.), Rachel Silverman (Rye Brook, N.Y.), Alexis Lindo (York, Pa.) and Daniela Giuliani (West Lafayette, Ind.), who will all be playing in their final home game. Congratulations seniors!
