Stony Brook, N.Y. - SEAWOLVES PUT IN EXTRA TIME: The Seawolves went 1-1 in overtime games last week. On Tuesday, they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker to Quinnipiac as the Braves rallied from a two-goal deficit to score three times in the last 15 minutes to earn the win. On homecoming, Stony Brook notched a thrilling 2-1 win over Cornell. Kerri McCabe got SB on the board in the 46th minute but Cornell got the equalizer with 20 minutes remaining. Three minutes in the overtime, Beth Arikian blasted a direct kick from 35 yards out into the upper corner of the goal for the 3-2 win. It was the first time that Stony Brook has ever beaten Cornell.
SEAWOLVES VERSUS THE PRIDE AND RED STORM: SB is 3-3 all-time versus Hofstra and 8-7-2 against the Red Storm. Stony Brook lost to both teams last season and will seek to turn that around this week.
FULL NELSON: Lori Nelson came up big in goal again last Saturday. She stopped a breakaway early in the overtime period versus Cornell that helped the Seawolves go on to a 2-1 win. Nelson is 3-1 in four starts.
FROM THE COACH: "Saturday's win over Cornell was a great win for us. It is just indicative of how well we can play when we our on our game."
IN THE FRONT: McCabe and Lauren Canino teamed up to form a formidable attack last Saturday against Cornell. McCabe leads the team with 26 points. Canino has played the last four games at forward and has created many chances for the Seawolves.
NEWS AND NOTES * Jen Fontanetta has a career-high six goals on the year * Emily Snyder has started all 15 games in the back this year after playing midfield last season * SB is 2-1-1 in overtime games this year.
