Pfeiffer garners America East Player of the Week honors
Aug. 27, 2012
Cambridge, Mass. - Junior Caitlin Pfeiffer (Holland, N.Y.) of the Stony Brook women's soccer team was named the America East Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Pfeiffer scored the game-winner in Sunday's 3-0 win at St. John's as the Seawolves defeated a BIG EAST opponent for the first time in nearly 14 years.
Pfeiffer, who started the game on defense, put the Seawolves in front at the 35:32 mark of the first half, firing a shot from the top of the box to the lower left corner of the net. Freshmen Priscilla Wiggins (Princeton, N.J.) and Kristen Baker (Easley, S.C.) added goals in the 43rd and 59th minutes, respectively, to round out the scoring.
Pfeiffer is the second Seawolf to garner an America East weekly honor in as many weeks as freshman Aley Leonardi (Kennebunkport, Maine) took home Rookie of the Week accolades on Aug. 20.
The Seawolves (2-1-1) return to action Friday at Army at 5 p.m.
