Box Score

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's soccer team (8-4-1, 3-1-0 America East) dismantled its SUNY rival on Sunday with a 4-0 victory over Albany (1-12-1, 0-4-1 America East) at LaValle Stadium. Senior Larissa Nysch (Dresher, Pa.) scored two goals, while freshman Christina Fluman (Pittsford, N.Y.) added a goal and an assist. The Seawolves are now 7-0-0 at home in 2013.

Coach Sue Ryan's Reaction

"I thought this was a good performance overall. We put two halves together and scored early, which was a plus for us since we've scored a lot of our goals late in games this season. I thought our level of play was consistent throughout, and from a depth standpoint, we were able to go to our bench and maintain that same high level of play."

Goal Recaps

• Stony Brook struck first at the 11:30 mark when junior Shannon Grogan (Eastampton, N.J.) lofted a cross in front to Nysch, who directed a header over the outstretched arms of Albany keeper Alana Brennan to make it 1-0.
• The Seawolves doubled the advantage at the 28:51 mark when Fluman netted her first collegiate goal. The strike was setup by a cross from sophomore Priscilla Wiggins (Princeton, N.J.), which took a deflection off an Albany defender onto the foot of Fluman, who made no mistake from point-blank range.
• Stony Brook netted again in the 62nd minute when Fluman played the ball forward to Nysch, who outraced a defender and powered a shot under the crossbar on a breakaway.
• The Seawolves rounded out the scoring in the 79th minute when redshirt junior Queli Ornelas (Palm Harbor, Fla.) laid the ball off to sophomore Tessa Devereaux (Fayetteville, N.Y.), who unleashed a laser shot into the top left corner from well outside the box.
