Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's lacrosse team has been included in ILWomen.com's 2013 preseason rankings. The Seawolves check in at No. 18 after a turnaround 2012 season under head coach Joe Spallina.

The Seawolves are the highest ranked team in America East, just ahead of defending America East champion Albany, who comes in at No. 20.

In his first season at the helm of the Seawolves, Spallina led Stony Brook to the nation's best turnaround, taking a four-win team and turning it into a 14-win team. The Seawolves advanced to their first-ever America East Championship final where they fell just short of winning the crown.

Spallina, the 2012 America East Coach of the Year, returns 19 letterwinners from last season's team, including 2012 America East Player of the Year and third-team All-American Claire Petersen and first-team All-America East stars Demmianne Cook, Janine Hillier, Michelle Rubino, Melissa Rotante and Frankie Caridi.
