Stony Brook, N.Y. – Senior midfielder Demmianne Cook of the No. 10/9 Stony Brook women's lacrosse team has added to her growing list of 2013 postseason accolades. She was named a All-American, making it the third All-America nod the nation’s leading goal scorer has earned this season. Both the IWLCA and Synapse Sports named Cook a third-team All-American earlier this month.

Cook netted a staggering, school record 90 goals and averaged 4.5 per game, the best output in the country, and led the Seawolves to their first conference title and NCAA Tournament appearance and victory.  Her defensive prowess helped Stony Brook pace Division I in scoring defensive, surrendering a mere 5.65 goals per game, the lowest goals against average in NCAA history.

A dynamic midfielder, Cook finished the year at fifth in total points (96), eighth in points per game (4.8) and 12th in draw controls per contest (4.8) after racking up a school single-season record of 96.

The Nesconset, N.Y., native graduates as Stony Brook’s all-time leading goal scorer with 158 career tallies in just two seasons after breaking the school’s single-season goals record in both 2012 and 2013. Cook is fifth all-time at SBU in career points (173) and third in draw controls (157).

She also became the Seawolves' first Tewaaraton nominee and nabbed first-team All-Region honors from the IWLCA.
