Cambridge, Mass. – Senior goalie Frankie Caridi has picked up her conference-record sixth America East Defensive Player of the Week honor, and freshman midfielder Dorrien Van Dyke has been named Rookie of the Week for the second time after leading the No. 16/15 Stony Brook women’s lacrosse team to a win over New Hampshire Saturday.

The 15-5 triumph locked up a share of the regular season America East championship and the top seed for the tournament for the second consecutive season.

On her Senior Day, Caridi continued to make a strong case for first-team All-America recognition by stopping eight of the 13 shots she faced and holding an opponent to single-digit goals for the 14th time in 15 games. With the East Northport, N.Y., product between the pipes, the Seawolves have held teams to five goals or fewer 10 times, including in all four of their America East contests.

Caridi entered the week as the nation’s leader in goals-against average and save percentage and as the anchor of the top-ranked scoring defense in Division I. Her sixth weekly honor in 10 weeks ties Jenny Hauser of Boston University for the most in conference history. Hauser was named Rookie of the Week six times in 2005.

Van Dyke tallied seven points on three goals and four assists to bring her season total to a team-high 57 points, the most by a Stony Brook freshman ever. She broke Kaitlin Leggio’s record of 56 points set in 2006 and moved into a tie with former All-American Claire Petersen for eighth on the single-season school goals ledger with 42 tallies.

Van Dyke, who hails from Northport, N.Y., added three ground balls and one draw control to her balanced stat line.

The Seawolves have won 12 weekly honors and have brought home at least one in nine of the season's 10 weeks.

Stony Brook finishes the regular season with games at Delaware and Vermont on Tuesday and Saturday, respectively.
