Caridi tallied five saves against CCSU last week

Cambridge, Mass. – Junior goalie Frankie Caridi of the No. 19/20 Stony Brook women’s lacrosse team garnered America East Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the week of March 4.  This marks the second time this season and in the last three weeks Caridi has received the honor.

Caridi anchored the defense in Stony Brook’s 19-3 rout of Central Connecicut Wednesday, Feb. 28, stopping five of the eight shots she faced as the Seawolves matched a program record for fewest goals allowed in a single game.

The East Northport, N.Y., native posted a goals against average of 3.16 and save percentage of 62.5 in nearly 57 minutes of play against the Blue Devils while also scooping up a game-best four ground balls and causing one turnover.

Stony Brook (2-1) has two games on its slate this week, beginning with a trip to Downingtown, Pa. to take on Duquesne Thursday, March 7 at 3 p.m. The Seawolves will then play their home opener against Longwood Saturday, March 9 at 1 p.m.
