Feb. 25, 2013

Stony Brook, N.Y.--The Stony Brook women's lacrosse program will help local girl's lacrosse players and coaches tune up for their spring seasons with a clinic and 7v7 tournament March 1-3 at Stony Brook Athletic Fields, which are next to LaValle Stadium.

The fun-filled event begins Friday, March 1 with the first of a two-day players camp. The camp will run Friday from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, March 2 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and will include instructions from members of the nationally ranked Stony Brook women's lacrosse team on skills such as stick work and field sense.

On Saturday, March 2 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., girl's lacrosse coaches are invited to attend a clinic, which includes a complimentary drill book. Coaches will learn techniques from SBU women's lacrosse head coach Joe Spallina, who picked up the 2012 America East Coach of the Year and Brine Major League Lacrosse Coach of the Year awards for his work with the Seawolves and the New York Lizards, respectively.

The event concludes with a 7v7 clinic for girl's in grades 3-12 on Sunday, March 3 from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Each team must include a minimum of 12 players, and clinics will be held in between games to aid participants in positional development.
