Cambridge, Mass. – After leading the Stony Brook women’s basketball team to a 2-0 week with road wins over St. Peter’s and Lafayette, junior Sabre Proctor and freshman Kori Bayne-Walker have been tabbed America East Co-Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Proctor’s nod follows her latest pair of offensive outbursts. The forward notched her first double-double of the year on 20 points and a season-best 10 boards at St. Peter’s as the Seawolves secured their first win by 30 or more points since 2009 with a 77-47 drubbing of the Peacocks Wednesday night. For an encore, Proctor recorded 21 points and matched a career-best two 3-pointers in Stony Brook’s 71-61 win at Lafayette Sunday afternoon.

One of the league’s top free throw shooters, Proctor shot 81.3 percent (13-for-16) from the line for the weekend. The Harrisburg, Pa., native and preseason all-conference pick has reached double figures in scoring in five consecutive games and has already tallied 20 or more points three times. She splits the honor with Albany’s Shereesha Richards.

Bayne-Walker, a guard, helped Stony Brook control the tempo of the game at St. Peter’s with career highs of six boards and three helpers. She dazzled the crowd at Lafayette, consistently using her quickness to beat defenders on her way to a personal-best 13 points, including eight in the second half, on 66.7-percent shooting (4-for-6) against the talented Patriot League squad.

The duo’s stellar play has the Seawolves within one win of their best 10-game start in Division I program history. SB next hits the hardwood when it hosts Monmouth to kick off play in the #Seawolves Holiday Classic Presented by Hilton Garden Inn Stony Brook Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. To watch the Seawolves try to make history, call (631) 632-WOLF or purchase tickets online by clicking here.
