Stony Brook, N.Y. - For the next month, will be counting down the days until #Seawolves Tip-Off on Nov. 8 with a series of stories on the men's and women's basketball teams. In the first installment, we look back at the 2012-13 Stony Brook women's basketball season, which was one of the best campaigns in the program's recent history.  For tickets for the 2013-14 season, please call 631-632-WOLF.

Picked to finish ninth in the America East Preseason Coaches' Poll, the Seawolves proved to be a competitor, posting the seventh-best turnaround in the country with a 10-win improvement from 2011-12 and earning a No. 4 seed in the conference championship. The 14 victories Stony Brook produced were the most for the program since 2006-07, while the seed was its highest since 2009-10.

The up-and-coming squad had already doubled its win total from the 2011-12 season by December and tripled it Feb. 2 with its second win of the season over New Hampshire. The Seawolves also took two from Binghamton, marking the first time that SB swept two opponents in one season since 2009-10.

The ascent continues when Stony Brook takes on NJIT in the first game of #Seawolves Tip-Off Nov. 8 at 6 p.m.
