Bayne-Walker collects second Rookie of the Week honor

Cambridge, Mass. –Freshman guard Kori Bayne-Walker has been named America East Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, conference officials announced Monday morning. Bayne-Walker averaged 14 points per game and shot 85.7 percent (6-for-7) from the field and 84.2 percent (16-for-19) at the free throw line to lead the #Seawolves to back-to-back America East wins last week.
The Rochester, N.Y., led all scorers with a career-high 18 points on a perfect night from the floor (4-for-4) to push the Seawolves past Binghamton, 62-42, Wednesday at Pritchard Gymnasium. Bayne-Walker, who scored 16 of her points in the second half, also made 10 of 11 free throws and recorded two steals.
She once again came alive in the second half in a 76-63 triumph Sunday against New Hampshire, recording nine of her 10 points in the second half as the Seawolves moved to a half game back of the Wildcats for second place in the conference standings. Bayne-Walker tallied three rebounds and dished out three helpers.
She and the Seawolves will look to make it a three-game winning streak at UMass Lowell Saturday at 2 p.m.
