Coach's Corner - A Note From the Desk of Coach Glassman
Nov. 3, 2009
Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Greetings and welcome to the second installment of the 2009-10 season Coach's Corner - a monthly newsletter to keep you informed and up to date on Stony Brook Tennis!
It was a very busy fall season for the Seawolves. We hosted three home events - including the first ever Stony Brook Invitational men's tournament on October 10-11. Ivan Rummel '11 reached the finals of the A flight singles, Jon Epstein '10 reached the finals of the B Flight singles and Halvar Dil '10 and Mitch Wong '12 teamed up to make it to the finals in A flight doubles. The men completed their fall campaign with the ITA Regionals at Dartmouth. It was the best-ever team showing for Stony Brook as we had a quarterfinalist in Ivan Rummel '11 and Roope Kailaheimo '13 reached the Round of 16.
The women concluded their fall season with the team going in separate directions. Paola Rodolfi '10 and Prerana Appineni '12 each recorded first round wins at the ITA Regionals at Yale University. Katherine Hanson '12 also scored a couple of impressive victories over Columbia and Seton Hall in the consolation event. The rest of the women's squad headed to Providence, RI to compete in the Brown Invitational. The women were an impressive 23-4 overall at the Brown event.
Both squads worked very hard this fall and the results were evident. Now we will be preparing for the spring season, with the ultimate goal of bringing home an America East Conference Championship. Our spring schedules are posted on the web www.goseawolves.org and we hope to see you at the matches.
Once again, we will be running our Stony Brook Tennis T-Shirt promotion. Just let us know what size shirt you would like and we will put it in the mail for you. It also makes a great gift for that special Seawolves fan in your life! All we ask is that you make a PAWS donation of your choice to the tennis program.
If you know of any teammates/supporters that would like to receive the Coach's Corner - please feel free to send me their email address.
Take care and I look forward to seeing you on the other side of the net!
