Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men's tennis team will open the 2014 America East Championship against No. 2 UMBC Friday at the Wilde Lake Tennis Club in Columbia, Md. The Seawolves, seeded third, will face the Retrievers at 2 p.m. in one semifinal.

Stony Brook concluded the regular season with an 11-6 record. It lost to Binghamton, 4-2, but defeated Hartford, 5-0, in its two conference matches.

Freshman Tyler Hoffman (Sayville, N.Y.) led the Seawolves with 12 singles wins in dual matches, including a 4-0 mark at No. 3. Freshman Raphael Termat (Nice, France) went 9-3 at No. 2 singles.

The duo of sophomores Marcelo Locatelli (Londrina, Brazil) and Vinicius Degani (Sao Paolo, Brazil) won both of their matches at No. 2 during conference play.

No. 1 Binghamton will face No. 4 Hartford in the other semifinal match.

The Championship match will be Sunday, April 27 at 10 a.m.
