Coach's Corner - A Note From the Desk of Coach Glassman
April 8, 2010
Stony Brook, N.Y. - Greetings and welcome to the third installment of the 2010 season Coach's Corner - a monthly newsletter to keep you informed and up to date on Stony Brook Tennis!
It's been a busy month of action for the Seawolves. Since our last update the women's record now stands at a stellar 13-3 overall. The ladies had a most successful spring trip as they recorded wins over Lehigh, UMBC and Georgetown. Nini Lagvilava (Tbilisi, Georgia) '13 led the way with three straight set wins at #1 singles. For her efforts - she was named America East player of the week.
The men have had an equal run of success and swept all three of their spring break matches as well. Ivan Rummel (Budapest, Hungary) '11 is back in the #1 singles spot and he has recorded four straight wins to lead the team to an overall record of 11-4.
Upcoming Home Schedule
Monday will mark Senior Day as we honor Paola Rodolfi (Asuncion, Paraguay), Jon Epstein (Silver Spring, Md.), Halvar Dil (Amersfort, Netherlands) and Ilan Shvartz (Haifa, Isreal) before our 2 p.m. match against Hofstra for their great contributions to our program. Please come on out to the courts to support the Seawolves and see some great tennis.
The 4th Annual Seawolves Tennis Funfest was held on Saturday March 20 at Eastern Athletic Club in Blue Point. The event was a tremendous success as we had our biggest turnout ever by a substantial margin. We also raised over $3000 at the event, which is our most ever. Thanks again to everybody who attended as well as all of you who donated, but were unable to be there. Your support means everything to the players and the program. Because it's never too early - - - please save the date: Saturday - March 19, 2011 will be the 5th Annual Funfest!!!
