Philadelphia, Pa. - In a dual-match format, the Stony Brook men's tennis team traveled to Philadelphia for the Penn Invitational.

The Seawolves opened the tournament with a dominating performance against Niagara and St. Peter's. Freshmen Raphael Termat and Brandon Stone were victorious in doubles with a 6-1 win over the Purple Hawks.

Singles play was no different as Stony Brook captured straight-set wins in five of the six singles matches. Freshman Tyler Hoffman and junior Albert Fontova each won 6-0, 6-0 in their matches.

Later on Friday, Fontova and sophomore Vinicius Degani combined for a 6-0 win in mixed team doubles against Penn and Monmouth.

Freshmen Brandon Stone and Alexandre Felisa posted impressive singles performances.

Sophomore Marcelo Locatelli led Saturday's effort with a 6-4, third-set victory over Penn's Winenberg.

Stony Brook capped the weekend with a dual match against Buffalo and a mixed match against Penn, Buffalo and St. Joseph's.

Degani and freshman Hari Rohan bested SJU, 8-2, in doubles. Rohan continued his strong play with an 8-2 singles win over SJU's Gates.

Stony Brook will wrap up the fall next month at the ITA Regionals hosted by Yale on October 17.
