Men's tennis opens season at Stony Brook Invitational

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men's tennis team opened the fall season at the Stony Brook Invitational on Friday. Freshman Brandon Stone advanced in singles and doubles play to lead the Seawolves.

Stone beat Leonardo Pires (Hofstra), 8-1, before topping Antonio Perich (Stevens), 6-1, 6-3. He'll face teammate and freshman Hari Rohan, who beat Hamilton's Austin Lorke and Concordia's Pulat Babadjanov in a third-set tiebreaker.

In doubles play, Stone and freshman Raphael Termat beat Hamilton's Lorke and Max McKee-Proctor, setting up a semifinal match against Concordia's Babadjanov and Juuso Ojanen.

Freshman Tyler Hoffman will face Hofstra's Beau Willis in the semifinals on Saturday after cruising to a pair of wins.

Singles and doubles play continues Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
