Stony Brook, N.Y. - Senior midfielder Leonardo Fernandes (North Babylon, N.Y.) has been nominated for the Soccer News Net College Boot, given to the Div. I Soccer Player of the Year, and fans can now vote for him to win the award. Voting runs from now until Dec. 22.

Fernandes, one of 34 nominees, had an outstanding 2012 season that saw him score nine goals and assist on seven others for a total of 25 points. He was named 2012 America East Midfielder of the Year and first-team All-America East. He was also named to the America East Championship All-Tournament team for his outstanding play in helping the Seawolves reach the semifinals for the fourth consecutive season.

Fernandes wrapped up his Stony Brook career as the program's all-time leader in points with 79. He also is third in goals (31) and third in assists (17). He is a three-time America East Midfielder of the Year and first-team All-America East recipient.

Online fan voting will account for 40% of the total toward the award. The remaining 60% of the vote will be cast by the Soccer News Net editorial staff. Vote today!
