Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men's soccer team has been tabbed to finish second in the America East regular season standings, according to the preseason poll voted on by the conference's head coaches.

The Seawolves received one of eight first-place votes and finished with 40 points, nine behind defending America East Championship winner UMBC, which received the other seven first-place votes. Following Stony Brook are Vermont, Hartford, New Hampshire, Albany, Binghamton and UMass Lowell.

Stony Brook, led by head coach Ryan Anatol, is coming off one of its best seasons in program history, achieving an 11-6-1 record and finishing with an NCAA RPI ranking of 55, the best in program history. The 11 wins represented a second straight 10-plus win season, and the Seawolves advanced to the America East Championship semifinals for the fourth consecutive season before bowing out of postseason after a loss at UMBC.

The Seawolves, armed with 11 returning letterwinners and 16 newcomers, will be seeking their second regular season championship and fourth tournament title in program history as they commence the 2013 season on Friday, Aug. 30 against Sacred Heart at LaValle Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
