Fairfield holds off Men's Lacrosse, 13-10
Stony Brook University's men's lacrosse team dropped its 2012 season opener to Fairfield, 13-10, at Alumni Field on Saturday.

Faceoff: The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team will take on its third ranked opponent of the season with a non-conference game against Fairfield Saturday.  The Seawolves and Stags were scheduled to play last year, but a storm that dumped more than 30 inches on Long Island forced the cancellation of the game.

Opponent: The Stags are coming off a 12-11 victory over then-No. 10 Yale.  Senior Eric Warden, who scored the game-winning goal against the Bulldogs, leads Fairfield with 15 goals.  Junior Tristan Sperry has 10 goals and nine assists.  Junior Colin McLinden has recorded a team-best 11 assists.  Senior Jack Murphy has started all five games in goal and has posted a .494 save percentage and a 9.17 goals against average.

Series: Stony Brook leads the all-time series, 5-2, in a matchup that dates back to 1989.  The Stags have won the last two games, including the 2012 season opener, 13-10.

Up Next: Stony Brook will host Manhattan on Tuesday, March 18 at 6 p.m.  The Seawolves have not faced the Jaspers since the 2002 season.
