Eastwood's goal in third overtime lifts Men's Lacrosse over Rutgers
Freshman Brody Eastwood (Victoria, British Columbia) scored the game-winning goal with 40 seconds left in the third overtime as the Stony Brook men's lacrosse team (3-2) defeated Rutgers, 9-8, Saturday at the Rutgers Stadium Complex.

Faceoff: In the first of three straight home games, the Stony Brook men’s lacrosse team hosts Rutgers Saturday at LaValle Stadium.  The Seawolves are coming off a 14-6 loss to No. 2 Duke, while the Scarlet Knights fell at Virginia, 19-12, in their last game.

Opponent: Rutgers enters tomorrow's game with a 2-1 record after wins over Manhattan, 13-5, and Manhattan, 20-5.  In last Saturday's loss to the Cavaliers, Scott Klimchak had four goals and Rich Rambo and Nick DePaolera added two goals and an assist.  Rutgers trailed 9-8 at halftime, but was outscored 10-4 in the second half.  Klimchak has a team-high 13 goals this season.  Kris Alleyne has been outstanding in goal, posting a .616 save percentage and a 10.22 goals against average.

Series: The series with Rutgers was reignited in dramatic fashion last season after the teams had not played since 2006.  In last year’s contest, Brody Eastwood scored with 40 seconds left in the third overtime to lift Stony Brook to a 9-8 victory.  Prior to last year’s contest, the Scarlet Knights had won five of the six meetings.

Up Next: Stony Brook will host No. 3 Maryland on Saturday, March 8.  The Terrapins beat the Seawolves, 13-7, at Byrd Stadium last season.
