Coach Jim Nagle's Reaction

  • "The guys fought tonight like crazy.  Yale's a team that's been pretty good against some quality opponents.  We've got to tighten up the ground ball play and limit our turnovers.  I like the effort we got from our young guys.”

Turning Point

  • Stony Brook held a 7-4 lead over Yale after three quarters, but the Bulldogs scored six goals in the fourth quarter to force overtime.  The Seawolves forced a Yale turnover, but turned the ball over themselves on their only possession of overtime.  Kucharczyk scored going left to right that beat Shaughnessy over the right shoulder.

By the Numbers

  • Freshman Dylan Curry's (East Meadow, N.Y.) EMO goal was Stony Brook's first man-up score since Rooney's second-quarter tally at Vermont.
  • Rooney had a hand in all five first-half goals, scoring two and assisting on three others.  The three assists tied a career-high.  The six points tied a career-high.
  • Freshman Matt Schultz (Smithtown, N.Y.) scored for the first time in a month (Sacred Heart).
  • Stony Brook held Yale without a goal for 17:45 of game action during which time the Seawolves scored four goals to increase their lead to 7-3.
  • Yale was held to four goals through three quarters, a season-low for an opponent this season.
  • Freshman Challen Rogers (Coquitlam, British Columbia) tied a career-high with three assists.
