Philadelphia, Pa. - Walter Payton Award finalist Miguel Maysonet is one of three student-athletes who will be invited to the FCS Awards Banquet and Presentation, the Sports Network announced on Wednesday.

The 5-10, 210-pound senior running back will join Old Dominion's Taylor Heinicke and Wofford's Eric Breitenstein in Philadelphia on December 17.

The all-time leading rusher in Stony Brook and Big South history, Maysonet has 1,881 yards and 21 touchdowns through 12 games this season.  The Big South Offensive Player of the Year also has a 75-yard kick return for a TD and a 25-yd reception for a score.  He joins former standout Brock Jackolski '12 as the only players in conference history to total at least 20 touchdowns in a season.

Maysonet has nine games of at least 100 rushing yards and two contests of 200 yards, including a career-best 233 yards in a 27-21 win at Coastal Carolina.

In the Seawolves' two games against FBS opponents this season, Maysonet ran for 158 yards and a touchdown against Syracuse and 220 yards and two scores in a 20-point victory over Army.

In last week's first-round win over Villanova, Maysonet totaled 160 yards and two touchdowns. He reached the 5,000-yard mark for his career, when including his 385 yards at Hofstra as a freshman, with a 25-yard gain in the third quarter.

With 119 more yards, he would become the first player since Towson's Tony Vinson in 1993 to rush for 2,000 yards in a season.

In 36 games as a Seawolf, Maysonet has 5,248 all-purpose yards and 53 touchdowns, a Stony Brook and Big South record.

Earlier this year, Stony Brook Athletics launched a Payton Award campaign for the Riverhead native. Titled `Maysonet4Payton', the effort featured the website, Maysonet4Payton.com, and a twitter campaign using the hashtag #Maysonet4Payton.

Maysonet is the first SBU player to be nominated for the award, given to the most outstanding player in FCS.
