Charlotte, N.C. -

In this week's Big South football weekly teleconference, Stony Brook head coach Chuck Priore discusses what it took to beat Army and looks ahead to the conference opener against Charleston Southern on Saturday night.

Army recap ...

  • "Saturday was an exciting day for Stony Brook Athletics.  It showed of progess where this program and department has grown.  As for the game, it was one of opportunity.  We took advantage of their mistakes and executed.  We wanted to play good fundamental defense.  We controlled the clock, didn't let up the big play and matched their rushing totals.  It was a complete win.  A lot of credit should be given to our defensive staff."

Looking ahead to Charleston Southern ...

  • "They are much improved.  They have always played us very competitively.  They're coming off a bye week, so they had an extra jump on us.  They have a lot of weapons on offense and use multiple looks.  Despite what their record is, they've had a lot of success stopping the run.  We're excited to be back at home where we've had a lot of success over the years."
