Team: Colgate Raiders

2012 Record: 8-4, 5-0 Patriot League

Coach: Dick Biddle, 18th season at CU

Series History: Stony Brook leads 2-1

Last Meeting: More than 10,000 fans at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium watched Stony Brook rally past Colgate, 32-31, in last year's Homecoming game. Miguel Maysonet rushed for a career-high 198 yards. The Seawolves scored on three drives of 75 yards or more. Colgate entered the contest averaging 235 yards per game, but Stony Brook held the Raiders to only 155. The win ignited a seven-game winning streak for Stony Brook, which won its seventh straight Homecoming game.

Scouting the Offense: Colgate graduated five All-Patriot League players on offense, but returns one of the most dynamic quarterback in FCS in senior Gavin McCarney. The dual-threat signal caller average more than 314 yards per game. The competition to replace Jordan McCord, an All-American running back, is between three underclassmen and a senior. Colgate returns three solid wide receivers led by senior Dan Cason. Three of the five All-Patriot League players who graduated were on the offensive line.

Scouting the Defense: Colgate returns seven defensive starters, including three players up front who are upperclassmen. Senior Andrew Nairin leads the D-Line. Colgate will have to replace the production of Vince Myers, who was one of the team leaders in tackles for loss (7.0) and sacks (6.5). Junior Vinny Russo and Kris Kent return as starting linebackers. Junior Mike Armiento and senior Wendell Lewis combined for five interceptions last year.
