Charlotte, N.C. - The College Football Performance Awards recently announced that senior Kyle Essington (Chino Hills, Calif.) and senior Miguel Maysonet (Riverhead, N.Y.) and junior Marcus Coker (Beltsville, Md.) were named to its preseason watch lists.

Essington, a second team All-Big South selection, passed for 1,919 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2011. He also ran for five scores, accounting for the most touchdowns by a Stony Brook quarterback in the Division I era.

Maysonet rushed for 1,633 yards, the most in Stony Brook and Big South history, and 15 touchdowns, earning Big South Offensive Player of the Year honors. He had two games with four touchdowns, a conference record, and totaled more than 100 rushing yards in eight games.

Coker, a transfer from Iowa, will team with Maysonet to continue Stony Brook's tradition of great running backs. Last season, Coker ran for 1,384 yards, including 252 at Minnesota. He finished second in the Big Ten in rushing, behind Heisman Trophy finalist Montee Ball.
