Former SB Gridder Stu Sharoff Makes Generous Donation To Stony Brook Athletics At The 17th Annual Football Banquet

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Senior running back Ralph Menendez earned team offensive MVP honors at the 17th Annual Football Banquet held at the Port Jefferson Country Club Friday night. Menendez piled up 770 yards and four touchdowns in his final season that saw him become Stony Brook's all-time leading rusher with 2,623 career yards, surpassing Oliver Bridges.

Menendez wasn't the only highlight of the evening. Former Stony Brook football player Stu Sharoff, who has been one of the biggest supporters of the program since he graduated from SB in 1981, announced that he has pledged $100,000 to the Providing Athletes With Scholarship (P.A.W.S) fund. Sharoff, who will make a $25,000 donation in each of the next four years, was honored at the banquet for his generous contribution and his undying support of Stony Brook football.

Other award winners included: defensive MVP: John Phelan, offensive grunt award: Tom Marshall, defensive grunt award: Sal Mancino, special teams MVP: Mike Soto, Fred Kemp award: Brian Stanley, Dave Caldiero award: Paul Thomas.
