Stony Brook to join CAA Football in 2013

A new era of Stony Brook Football in the premier FCS conference to begin in 2013.

Mark Murray enters his sixth seasons at Stony Brook and his second as the Director of High School Recruiting. Prior to shifting titles, Murray served as the Seawolves tight ends coach for four seasons.

Murray helped shape the collegiate career of current New York Giant tight end Will Tye, who transferred from Florida State to Stony Brook. Tye pulled down 79 catches for 1,015 yards and nine touchdowns in his two seasons as the Seawolves tight end.

Murray's tight ends have been instrumental in Stony Brook rushing attack, which produced back-to-back 3,000-yard seasons in 2011 and 2012.

From 2010-12, Stony Brook's offense produced two 1,000-yard rushers.

Murray's experience also includes a four-season stint at Yale from 2006-09

Prior to joining the Bulldogs' staff, Murray spent seven seasons as the offensive line and running backs coach for the Canadian Football League's Hamilton Tiger Cats.

Murray, who graduated from American International College in 1982, has been an assistant coach at five different colleges and with two CFL squads, including Toronto (1995). He coached at Bowling Green (1996-99), Navy (1988-94), Wagner (1983-88), Albany (1982) and his alma mater (1982).

His offensive line at Navy helped the Midshipmen set six passing records and his 1998 Bowling Green squad led the nation in rushing and total offense. Murray, who was also an assistant athletic director at Wagner, earned a certificate of advanced graduate studies at the Staten Island campus in 1984.
