About the Game: Stony Brook is seeking to extend one streak, set a new one and make history as it faces Sacred Heart on Sunday afternoon. The Seawolves are looking to go 4-0 for the first time in their Div. I history, looking to extend their Pritchard Gym winning streak to 16 games and looking to snap a three-game losing streak to the Pioneers. Sacred Heart has owned the series with a 14-4 advantage. Today’s game is the first of a non-conference home-and-home series with the Pioneers this season.

Scouting Sacred Heart: The Pioneers are 1-2 this season, losing at Hartford Friday night, which snapped a nine-game winning streak over America East teams. SHU returns four starters from last season’s team that went 14-18 overall and 8-10 in the NEC. Included among the starters is leading scorer Shane Gibson, who was fourth in the nation in points per game at 22.0. He scored 29 in SHU’s season opener vs. Yale on Nov. 10.

Last Time Out: Playing at 6 a.m., live on ESPN, the Seawolves controlled most of their game at Rider, but it was back-to-back jumpers by Dave Coley and Anthony Jackson after the Broncs came back to tie the game that ultimately settled the match in SB’s favor, 54-46. Stony Brook played stifling defense, limiting the Broncs to 30.8% shooting. Coley and Jackson each scored 12 points, and Jameel Warney added nine points and nine rebounds.

Last Time vs. Rider: On Nov. 15, 2011, the Pioneers shot 49.1% and all five starters scored in double figures as they rolled past the Seawolves 74-63 in Fairfield, Conn. SB managed to keep the game close thanks to converting 19 Pioneers turnovers into 30 points. Tommy Brenton had 10 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in the game.
