Stony Brook, N.Y. - On Wednesday, the media had a chance to meet and interview members of the #Seawolves men's & women's basketball teams and got a glimpse of Long Island's future athletic and entertainment destination. Stony Brook Athletics held a media day inside Stony Brook Arena, which is currently undergoing a $21.1 million renovation and is slated to open in Fall 2014.

Head coaches Beth O'Boyle and Steve Pikiell spoke to the group about their excitement surrounding Stony Brook Arena and then gave brief previews of their 2013-14 teams. The media then engaged in one-on-one interviews with the coaches and student-athletes and then received a tour of Stony Brook Arena and its construction progress.

The men's team is coming off its greatest season in Div. I program history, finishing with 25 wins, a third America East regular season championship and a national postseason victory. With four returning starters, including 2013 America East Rookie of the Year Jameel Warney, the #Seawolves have been picked to finish second in the conference as they chase their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth.

The women's team posted the seventh-best turnaround in the country last season, winning 10 more games than in the previous year. The #Seawolves, who have been picked to finish third in America East, return All-Conference forward Sabre Proctor and All-Rookie forward Brittany Snow as well as the strong senior backcourt tandem of Teasha Harris and Chikilra Goodman.

Both teams will open the 2013-14 season on Friday, Nov. 8 at Pritchard Gymnasium as the women's team hosts NJIT and the men's team plays Marist. The doubleheader tips off at 6 p.m.
