Stony Brook, N.Y. - For the first time in program history, the Stony Brook men's basketball team will be participating in a college basketball multi-team events (MTE) exempt tournament. The #Seawolves have signed up to play in the 2013 2KSports Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project. The tournament consists of 12 teams, four of which (Indiana, Washington, Boston College, Connecticut) are guaranteed to advance to play in the championship rounds at Madison Square Garden. Those four teams will play two of the remaining eight teams in a "regional" round, and then the eight remaining teams will divide up into two "subregionals" on campuses.
Stony Brook has drawn defending Big Ten regular season champion Indiana in the regional round and will take on the Hoosiers at Assembly Hall Nov. 17 at 5 p.m. The #Seawolves have also been placed into the Detroit "subregional" and will play Toledo on Nov. 22 at 4:30 p.m., followed by Florida Atlantic on Nov. 23 at 3 p.m. and then finally host Detroit on Nov. 24 at 4 p.m.
