Stony Brook, N.Y. - Redshirt freshman Ahmad Walker (Port Washington, N.Y.) of the Stony Brook men's basketball team has been named America East Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week, the conference office announced Monday.

Walker averaged 12.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists in three games last week while shooting 51.6 percent from the field. He was solid in wins over UMBC and Vermont, but really stood out with his performance Sunday against Maine, delivering a career-high 22 points and 11 rebounds. He had 16 points and seven rebounds in the second half alone, and it was his energy in delivering five points, three rebounds and one assist in the first three minutes of the second half that sparked a 27-10 #Seawolves run.

Walker, who has started every game this season, has come on strong for Stony Brook. He now has two double-doubles in his last six games while averaging 11 points and 8.2 rebounds in the same span. For the season, Walker is averaging 7.1 points and 5.1 rebounds.

Walker and the #Seawolves are off to their best America East start in school history with a 7-0 mark. They are on the road Wednesday at Albany before returning home to face Hartford on Saturday.
