About the Game
In its only home game over the next three weeks, Stony Brook hopes to remain in first place and extend its home winning streak as it welcomes Maine to Pritchard Gymnasium. The Seawolves sit atop the conference at 5-1, a half-game ahead of Vermont and Albany, who battle each other today. Stony Brook has won five straight games at home overall and has won its last 13 conference home games, dating back to Feb. 2011. This is the 28th all-time meeting between the two teams, and the Black Bears lead the Series 16-11, but Stony Brook has won the last three.

Scouting Maine
The Black Bears began the conference season with strong wins over Boston University and UMBC before stumbling into three straight losses. However, Maine asserted itself at home last Tuesday with a 71-68 win over then first-place Vermont. The Black Bears are one of the league's best offensive teams, averaging a conference-best 68.1 points per game. They shoot 44.1% from the field. Although Maine ranks last in the league in scoring defense at 71.6 points per game, in conference play the Black Bears are allowing only 65.5 points per game. Maine's star players are among the best in America East - Justin Edwards leads the league in scoring 17.5 points per game and Alasdair Fraser is averaging 13.8 points and 8.7 rebounds.

Men's hoops beats Maine to win regular season championship
For the second time in three years, the Stony Brook men's basketball team grinded out the 16-game America East regular season schedule and came out on top of the other eight teams. The Seawolves defeated Maine, 55-48, to clinch the America East regular season title with a 14-2 record. The Seawolves will be the No. 1 seed in next week's America East Championship.

Last Time Out
Dave Coley scored 17 points and the defense held UMBC to 34% shooting as the Seawolves beat the Retrievers 67-60 in Baltimore last Wednesday. The Seawolves never trailed in the game, jumping out to a 16-4 lead on the strength  of baskets from five different Seawolves and a defense that limited UMBC to one field goal in its first 14 attempts. Stony Brook stretched its lead to as much as 15 before holding on thanks to excellent free throw shooting at the end.
