Wichita, Kansas - Former Stony Brook baseball standout Craig Ansman homered for the West squad in the East's 4-2 win in the Texas League All-Star game Monday night in Wichita, Kansas. The starting backstop for El Paso made his second straight start in a minor league all-star game after being chosen for last year's California League (A) all-star contest.

Ansman is enjoying an outstanding season for the El Paso Diablos, the double-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. He ranks among the league leaders in five offensive categories including: batting average (.317 - 7th), homers (15 - 3rd), slugging percetage (.625 - 1st), runs batted in (49 - 6th), on base percentage (.412 - 2nd) and extra base hits (33 - 5th).

Trailing 2-0 in the second inning, Ansman smacked a solo home run in his first at bat off Tulsa's Chin-hui Tsao to cut the West's deficit to 2-1. However, the West extended the lead to 4-1 and never looked back. He finished the night going 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Ansman starred for the Seawolves from 1997-00 and ranks second all-time in career homers (48) and third in runs batted in (163).
