Setting the Scene: The Stony Brook University baseball team will open the 2012 College World Series against UCLA Friday at 5 p.m. EST.  Tomorrow's game will be televised live on ESPN2, with Karl Ravech, Kyle Petersen and Jenn Brown on the call.  The Seawolves advanced to their first CWS with a win over LSU in the Baton Rouge Super Regional.  Stony Brook is just the second No. 4 seed to reach the CWS since Fresno State, which captured the national title in 2008.

About the Seawolves: Stony Brook enters this weekend with the most wins (52) in the country as well as the nation's top winning percentage (.800) and its .790 winning percentage (94-25) since the beginning of last season is also tops in the nation.  The Seawolves are ranked No. 7 in the Collegiate Baseball and NCBWA polls, their highest ever rankings in either poll.  SBU has won 28 of its last 31 games.

Scouting the Bruins: UCLA enters the College World Series having won 19 of its last 21 games and rides a nine-game winning streak ... John Savage is UCLA's only head coach to have led the Bruins to the College World Series twice ... UCLA has compiled the nation's top record in road/neutral site games, going 20-4 away from home this year ... the Bruins have advanced to the postseason in six of the last seven years (CWS in two of last three seasons) ... seven UCLA ballplayers were selected in the 2012 MLB Draft (all within the first 15 rounds) ... the Bruins are tied for ninth, nationally, with 133 wins in the last three seasons (ranks first among Pac-12 teams).
