Stony Brook, N.Y. - Junior catcher/outfielder Kevin Krause (Staten Island, N.Y.) of the Stony Brook baseball team has been named third-team Louisville Slugger All-America by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, the organization announced Thursday.

Krause, who was only one of five catchers to garner All-America honors this season, is the 2014 America East Player of the Year after a banner season in which he hit .354 with 23 extra-base hits, including eight home runs, and 51 RBI. He led America East in runs scored (46), home runs, RBI and total bases (109) and also finished in the top five in the conference in hitting, slugging (.551), on-base percentage (.441) and doubles (15).

Krause was especially hot in the final month of the season, helping the #Seawolves win the America East regular season championship. In 14 games in the month of May, he hit .404 with 19 runs scored and 19 RBI while slugging at a .702 clip. He had eight multi-hit games and four multi-RBI games during the span. He also hit a team-best .444 at the America East Championship while driving in five runs.

In his three-year career with Stony Brook spanning 132 games, Krause is a career .325 hitter with 11 home runs,30 doubles, 97 RBI and 88 runs scored. In 2012, he was a first-team freshman All-American and first-team All-Northeast Region while hitting .330 with three home runs and 40 RBI and was a part of the Stony Brook team that reached the College World Series. He was hampered by injuries in 2013 only to come back strong in 2014.
