Cambridge, Mass. - After a stellar weekend that included two home runs and nine RBI, junior Kevin Krause (Staten Island, N.Y.) of the Stony Brook baseball team has been named America East Co-Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
The catcher/outfielder earns his first-ever America East Player of the Week honor. He hit .500 in four games last week, including a blistering .583 in a three-game series at Albany that the #Seawolves swept. He blasted two home runs, had nine RBI and scored seven times. Both of his home runs came in Sunday's doubleheader sweep of the Great Danes, one in each game.
Krause's slugging percentage last week was a whopping 1.000, and he produced a .600 on base percentage.
This season, Krause is hitting a team-high .333 with a team-high five home runs and 32 RBI. He leads America East in on-base percentage (.437), walks (24) and total bases (69) and is top five in the conference in home runs, batting average, RBI, slugging percentage (.489) and runs scored (27).
Krause and the #Seawolves are 25-14 this season, having won 25 of their last 33 games. They are in first place in America East with an 11-3 conference record, and they will host Maine in a three-game weekend series at Joe Nathan Field beginning with a Saturday noon doubleheader.
