Box Score

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Freshman Cole Peragine tallied a season-high four RBI including a three-run double to cap a five-run third as the Stony Brook baseball team defeated the Rhode Island Rams, 8-2, on Wednesday at Joe Nathan Field. The Seawolves improve to 25-10 with the win and have won 11 of their last 13 games.

Freshmen Kevin Krause (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Steven Goldstein (East Meadow, N.Y.) added two hits each for the Seawolves, who totaled 11 hits on the day. Junior G.C. Yerry (West Shokan, N.Y.) allowed one run in 4.0 innings of relief work to pick up his first victory of the season.

The teams entered the bottom of the third tied 1-1 and it looked as if it would be quick inning as SBU had two out and nobody on. But the next six Seawolves reached base, leading to five runs.

Peragine had the big hit of the inning as he fouled over several two strike pitches before slicing a double down the left field line with the bases loaded to make it 6-1.

The Seawolves tacked on two runs in the fourth to put the game away.

Junior James Campbell (Bridgeport, Conn.) started for Stony Brook and pitched 2.0 scoreless innings.
